North Western Lead Co has unveiled its Spectrum Film range - a stunning collection of decorative films, which are 75 microns thick.
Designed to appeal to customers who prefer slightly thicker films, the collection includes no less than 140 films, making it one of the most extensive ranges available today. Each one of the 45 plain coloured films and 95 effect films, which includes light grained, three colour wisps, metallic wisps, pearl and onyx effects, meets the requirements of BS EN 1279 and carries the same quality guarantees as NWL’s other film ranges.
The films are created using NWL’s highly automated printing process, which not only makes them available on realistic lead times, but also very competitively priced.
Stephen Hart, NWL’s managing director, says: “We are delighted to launch this attractive new range of films, which widens our offering to the market. This 75 micron thick collection complements our 50 micron thick Decra Glow and Rainbow film ranges to bring even more choice to our customers. Initial comments on the new films have been very positive and we anticipate that they will quickly become very popular in the market.”
The new Spectrum films can be quickly and easily ordered on NWL’s specially designed new order form, which automatically calculates the number of sheets required. Free swatches of any of the films are available by calling 0161 368 4491.

A major Polish customer of North Western Lead Co. has created a modern and stylish showroom to display the complete range of NWL's decorative lead products and provide training on how to apply them.
Pujan, based in Elblag in Poland, has been successfully selling NWL's products for more than a decade, but was in need of a showroom that displayed the bevels, leads and films at their best. Owner Janusz Puchalski bought a run down building in 2007 and totally renovated it inside and out to create a superb showcase for the products and the impressive decorative results they can achieve.
Each window in the showroom, which opened in October 2008, features a unique and stunning design created with NWL's products. The face of Italian actress and fashion model Monica Bellucci has even been created from lead and multi-coloured film and set in a huge window within the showroom.
Providing a wealth of design inspiration for customers, the showroom features a large display area for NWL's entire range of Decra Bevels. Throughout the showroom, decorative glass is beautifully complemented with NWL's stunning collection of coloured and textured films. Pujan also provides training for customers on how to apply the products and will even work with customers to create one off designs.
Stephen Hart, Managing Director of NWL, says: "The new showroom is absolutely fantastic, providing a superb mix of products, design ideas and training. The investment in this new builing is huge but we are certain that it will pay dividends in a market that is open to new design opportunities and the potential they offer to their businesses."

North Western Lead has unveiled its Decra Led Adhesive Remover. Developed in response to customer's demands for a product that is reliable and easy to use, the new adhesive remover is designed to quickly and neatly clean off excess bevel adhesive after it has been cured with a UV lamp or a white light lamp. It is also perfect for removing lead adhesive from film.
The Decra Led Adhesive Remover speeds up the job of applying lead to glass and reduces costs because excess bevel adhesive is much easier to remove prior to leading. You simply wipe over with the adhesive remover and a cloth and the job is complete.
It also overcomes the common problem of how to easily remove lead adhesive when back leading and applying lead over the pieces of film. If a mistake is made when applying the lead, the adhesive can be quickly removed from the film and the lead can then be re-applied.

North Western Lead are aware that in these difficult times, most of their customers are looking for ways to reduce costs, without allowing quality to suffer. In response to this market need, NWL have just launched Decra Bond 911 LV, a low viscosity U.V. curing adhesive at an unbelievably low price!
Yet while meeting the cost-cutting objective, NWL are pleased to say that the new adhesive passes the accelerated weathering tests to which all Decra Led approved products are subjected. A glass bevel applied to glass with Decra Bond 911 LV, and subjected to UVb rays – the most damaging kind – at a constant 60oC over time, shows no signs of crazing or feathering as certain competitors’ products do!
Given the ease of application – excess adhesive can be wiped away or peeled off, the choice is down to the operative – NWL are pleased to recommend this new economy product to their customers. Using the Decra Led free-standing U.V. lamp, or the Decra Led U.V. light bench, the product is applied quickly and easily, and users have commented on the lack of “odour” problems encountered with other U.V. adhesives. (Please note that Decra Bond 911 LV is not suitable for those customers who work with powerful 250 watt U.V. lamps.)
A medium viscosity version is also available called Decra Bond 911 MV.

Expert advice from Chamber Business Enterprises' (CBE) environmental team is helping a Hyde company take a cleaner and greener approach to business. The relationship forged between managers at North Western Lead and CBE advisors has enabled the company to stay one step ahead of tough environmental regulations, as well as saving energy, reducing waste costs and developing new business initiatives. Although North Western Lead - manufacturers of decorative lead stripping for glass - joined Manchester Chamber in 1996, the firm didn't start reaping the benefits of the CBE partnership until 2001 when managers sought advice on environmental aspects of an export document. Chamber in 1996, the firm didn't start reaping the benefits of the CBE partnership until 2001 when managers sought advice on environmental aspects of an export document. Stephen Porter , Production Manager (above) said: "Since then we've developed a long term relationship with our CBE environmental advisers, who have become part of our extended business family. We have come to rely on their expert guidance and advice." That advice enabled North Western Lead to negotiate its way through complex changes to the Pollution Prevention Control (PPC) regulations governing the environmental impact of its furnace emissions. CBE helped the company to submit a successful permit application to the local authority and other statutory consultees. North Western Lead is now the first company of its type to be awarded a PPC permit in Tameside - a crucial factor to the survival of manufacturing and the business. A consultancy recommended by CBE advisers has worked with North Western Lead to implement new quality systems and a utility audit - a Manchester Chamber of Commerce partner service - has resulted in an 18% saving in the company's energy bills. Stephen added: "CBE has signposted us to many different consultants to help us achieve industry standards. Like CBE, these consultants have delivered consistently excellent advice and recommendations." North Western Lead's relationship with CBE has also brought a greater emphasis on the non-production side of the business, including introduction of a customer satisfaction survey as an integral part of the quality management practices."As a small manufacturing business, working with CBE has been a cost and time effective way of getting the right advice first time. It's fair to say that without their expert advice and guidance in recent years, we might not be in business today."
